From the east

Hello Brothers!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It’s crazy to think that 2024 is almost over, but as I type this “message from the east” for the month of December, it really hits home! This year has flown by, and this month is a busy one, not just Masonically but also for all of us in general. With that being said, I’d like to “finish” off 2024 with the “start” of someone’s Masonic journey.

What does that even mean? You may ask…well, the SAL6 Degree team has been working very hard to prepare for our 3rd and last degree of the year. On the night of our stated meeting, December 11th, we will be conferring the Entered Apprentice Degree on our newest candidate!  I strongly encourage/hope that you can make it out and support the team but more importantly, we have a strong showing for our newest candidate! Nothing is more exciting in Masonry than making new Masons!

We will be opening in Master Mason and dropping down to EA for the program/degree. A consent agenda is being put together now to hopefully move along the business part of the meeting. Dinner this month is Pot Roast and side salad, catered, and will be at 1730 (5:30 pm). The price per plate is around $20 I believe. If you would like to attend but the holidays have your finances a little tighter than usual, PLEASE reach out to me directly! No one will know but I’d rather have you next to me at the dinner table than not attend because of cost!  Also, please get your reservations into WB Secretary ASAP! You can reply right on the website or notify an officer.  I can’t think of a better evening to end the year and I couldn’t be more proud of this entire group of Men. From the Stewards putting together meals each month to the Past Masters getting the 3rd-floor temperature just right! Everyone has been doing their part and our lodge is thriving because of it!

In conjunction with that, WB Benn has asked for an all-hands-on-deck meeting to plan for the future of SAL6. I asked a few months ago if there were any Past Masters interested in place-holding until our newer members got a little less green behind the ears. So this is just to give Brother SW a better idea of where we stand to help him (and the lodge)out next year. That meeting will be on Monday, December 9th after our last EA rehearsal. All members are encouraged to attend.

Almost done…I promise…To all those who have signed up, purchased, and dropped off gifts for the Adopted Family this year…thank you…thank you…THANK YOU!

To me, this is what Masonry is about, bettering our community so our community produces better men.  This family is in need and the members of SAL6 are “contributing as liberally as they can (hopefully without injury to themselves)” and it truly warms my heart! There are a few items left so check the list, check it twice (I’m on a roll) and if you can, please consider helping out. The list is posted on the website and the Discord server. Items can be placed upstairs on the 3rd floor in the lodge room. Utilize the benches on the north side of the lodge. The deadline is December 14th and we can discuss a “wrapping party” before we drop them off to the ladies auxiliary!

Lastly, if you haven’t already, RSVP to the Holiday Party ASAP! It is this weekend, Saturday the 7th at 3 pm. If you would like to participate in the Yankee swap, please bring a gift! Somewhere in the $20-$30 range, nothing crazy.  The idea is to have a great day with our Brethren and Families then go out and enjoy the Bristol Lighting Festivities! That being said, WB Danny has left a list at the lodge for some last-minute cleanup in preparation for the party, so if you have any spare time I ask that you swing by the lodge and see if there’s anything you can do to make sure we are ready to rock (around the Christmas tree, yes we have a tree this year).

Thank you for taking the time to read this novel, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. From my Family to yours! Hope to see you all soon! Much love and stay safe!

Yours in the Craft,

Manuel J. Benevides
